NEW KERR RECORD: 90° SINGLE KERR ROTATION IN CeSb

Abstract: The temperature and field dependence of the complex polar Kerr effect and the optical reflectivity ofCeSb single crystals are presented. The evolution of the magneto-optical effect to reach the new record value of 90 degree single Kerr rotation at 1.5 K and 5 T in the near infrared spectral range is discussed and qualitative arguments to account for this giant effect: are given.
