NEW KERR RECORD: 90° SINGLE KERR ROTATION IN CeSb

Abstract

The temperature and field dependence of the complex polar Kerr effect and the optical reflectivity ofCeSb single crystals are presented. The evolution of the magneto-optical effect to reach the new record value of 90 degree single Kerr rotation at 1.5 K and 5 T in the near infrared spectral range is discussed and qualitative arguments to account for this giant effect: are given.
