New low-power ICO/VCO with double cross-coupled high-speed architecture

Abstract

New circuits of high-speed multivibrators are developed and consequently used to create new circuit of ICOIVCo. While implemented on 0.8 IJm BiCMOS (14GHz NPN) an amplitude on the symetrical output of 55 Om V at 2GHz, with consumption less than 3.3mW from 1.5V power supply can be easily achieved. The control ability of the ICO is about 2.6MHzlpA. The low phase-noise makes the circuit also suitable for building high-speed PLLs for various applications in communications and microprocessors.
