New Method to Reduce Current and Voltage Distortions Under Overmodulation for Matrix Converters

Abstract: This study presents a new method to reduce current and voltage distortions for matrix converters in the overmodulation range. Analytical overmodulation conditions for input currents and output voltages are derived. Then, a carrier-based overmodulation method is proposed to reduce distortions by appropriately adjusting reference voltages. Simulation results confirm that the distortions of input currents and output voltages can be reduced using the proposed method.
