“…The Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) which is widely used in production vehicles [1] reduces the crankshaft oscillations transmitted to the powertrain, offering the vibration isolation and acting like a lowpass filter. Then the torque which is measured on the gear shaft is the mean value of the engine brake torque, which in turn is estimated via the torque fluctuations on the flywheel.…”

“…The traditional method is to install passive torsional vibration damper between the engine and gearbox, such as traditional clutch driven plate damper, dual mass flywheel type torsional vibration damper, flexible couplings etc [1][2][3][4][5] .With the development of automobile industry, especially application of new technologies to enhance automobile power performance and measures to improve vehicle fuel economy performance, such as high-speed engine technology, exhaust gas turbocharger technology, high-speed direct-injection technology, increasing the compression ratio and improved diesel engine loading rate, while significantly improving the car's power and economy, all to some extent exacerbate car driveline vibration and noise and reduce the car comfort. The traditional clutch driven plate damper cannot meet the needs of the transmission system on vibration and noise reduction, in order to more effectively control the vehicle driveline vibration and noise, improve vehicle comfort, The concept of STVD-CPNS(short for semi-active torsional vibration damper based on combined positive and negative stiffness )is presented and its working principle is discussed.…”

“…The torque of each cylinder can be presented as a sum of two components, namely the mean value of the torque and the torque fluctuations. The Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) which is widely used in production vehicles [1] reduces the crankshaft oscillations transmitted to the powertrain, offering the vibration isolation and acting like a lowpass filter. Then the torque which is measured on the gear shaft is the mean value of the engine brake torque, which in turn is estimated via the torque fluctuations on the flywheel.…”

“…Figure 1 shows that the engine speed signal at low rotational speeds has a dominating component which corresponds to the combustions events. The engine speed signal at high rotational speeds has fluctuations which occur as a consequence of 1 MATLAB is a registered mark of the Mathworks, Inc of Natick, MA. the combustion events, low frequency oscillations from the powertrain as well as high frequency oscillations due to the crankshaft torsion.…”
