New Microstrip Bandpass Filter Designs Based on Stepped Impedance Hilbert Fractal Resonators

Abstract: The proposed microstrip bandpass filters in this paper have compact sizes and narrow band responses which are the requirements of modern wireless communication circuits. These filters are constructed from dual-edge coupled resonators; each resonator is based on applying step impedance resonator generator on first and second iteration of Hilbert fractal resonators on each segment of each iteration level. They have been designed for the industrial, scientific, and medical band (ISM) band applications at a centre… Show more

“…SIR is a non-standardized transmission line, which can be adopted in the filter design either for miniaturization objectives, or to reallocate the spurious pass-band to the upper frequency, or to isolate the harmonic frequencies [18]. In this study, SIR approach has been used to isolate 2 nd harmonic frequency in output frequency response of the filter.…”

“…In this perspective, the classical Euclidean shapes, such as the square, have been shaped in the form of the Sierpinski carpet to design a dual-mode BPF [10,11]. Numerous traditional fractal structures attracted the microwave passive circuit designers to produce of miniaturized microstrip BPFs as well [12,13]. Microstrip structures with Peano fractal-shaped resonators and its modification were employed in the conventional resonators to fabricate efficient miniaturized single-and dual-mode BPFs with single-band performance and also dual-mode implementation [14][15][16][17].…”
