“…Cambrian deep‐marine ichnofaunas are markedly different from younger counterparts, and tend to be restricted to straight, curved to loosely meandering, nonspecialized grazing trails (e.g., Helminthopsis , Helminthoidichnites ) showing close association with microbial mats (Buatois & Mángano, 2003; MacNaughton et al, 2016; Orr, 2001). In addition to these nonspecialized grazing trails, arthropod trackways (e.g., Diplichnites ), and more sophisticated feeding strategies ( Oldhamia ) are also common, the latter being also typically associated with matgrounds (Buatois & Mángano, 2003; Mángano & Buatois,2003; MacNaughton et al, 2016; Mángano & Buatois, 2017; Seilacher et al, 2005). Commonly, the evolutionary innovations of the Cambrian explosion in combination with microbial matground ecosystems resulted in the development of various interactions, such as the appearance of sophisticated feeding strategies (e.g., Oldhamia in Cambrian deep‐marine environments) (Buatois & Mángano, 2003).…”
