New organic conductors based on tellurium-containing donor molecules

Abstract: Trimethyleneditelluro-and trimethyleneoxaditelluro-substituted dimethyl-TTF derivatives were prepared. The CV result of the trimethyleneditellurosubstituted dimethyl-TTF derivative shows characteristic multi-redox behavior and the trimethyleneoxaditelluro-substituted dimethyl-TTF derivative exhibits two pairs of reversible redox waves. The structures and physical properties of conducting salts based on their donors are also clarified.

“…The sign of the induced magnetic field depends on the direction of pulsed current densities of ±82 A cm −2 as demonstrated by ± shifts in the chemical shielding of 125 Te by nuclear magnetic resonance [35] . It is easy to imagine a comparable experiment executed on a tellurium containing TTF derivative [36] …”

“…264 Recent Examples of the Use of Strategy III. This strategy is still regularly used, as is shown by the synthesis of dimethyl-TTF substituted by a tellurium-containing heterocycle (Scheme 64) 265 used as a precursor for conducting salts. It is also important to mention the recent preparation, via this method (Scheme 65), 248 of TTFs substituted by nitrogen-containing aromatic ligands able to complex various paramagnetic transition metals, that are potential precursors for magnetic-conducting materials.…”
