Bis(pyrazol-1-yl)(pyridin-x-yl)methane ligands give rise to a rich variety of complexes with a wide range of transition metals. The derivatives with x = 2 act as monotopic and tripodal ligands. In the cases of ligands with x = 3 or 4, tripodal coordination is no longer possible and they generally behave as ditopic ligands that bridge two metal centres in cyclic dimers and trinuclear or polymeric species. The metal geometry has a clear influence on the type of compound formed. Ligands with [a] Universidad de the group of Professor Bruno Chaudret, in the field of nonclassical hydrides of Ru. He has been full Professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha since 2003. Currently he is co-leader of the Applied Coordination Chemistry group in the UCLM together with Professor Blanca R. Manzano. He has co-authored more than 100 publications and three book chapters. His research topics include homogeneous catalysis and supramolecular and medicinal chemistry. The polypyrazolylmethane and polypyrazolylborate derivatives have been and are being used as ligands in all of these research fields of interest. Dr. M a Carmen Carrión obtained her BSc (1999) and PhD (2004) from the University of Castilla-La Mancha, under the supervision of Profs. F. Jalón and B. R. Manzano. From 2005 to 2007 she held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of St. Andrews in the group of Professor D. Cole-Hamilton. She returned to the University of Castilla-La Mancha as a "Juan de la Cierva" postdoctoral researcher (2007) and since 2010 she has held an INCRECYT contract. Her current work is mainly focused on the synthesis of supramolecular entities for gas-storage or catalytic uses, the photocatalytic production of hydrogen from water by use of transition metals, and the synthesis of organometallic drugs for the interaction with the G-quadruplex structure of DNA. Gema Durá was born in Alicante, Spain. She received her BSc (2008) from the University of Castilla-La Mancha. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2014 under the supervision of Profs. Felix Jalon and M. Carmen Carrion at the same university, with a FPU studentship, working on the supramolecular chemistry and synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). In 2011 she spent three months working on MOF chemistry in Schröder's group in Nottingham, England. In 2014 she was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha (JCLM) to join the group of Michael North in GCCE at the University of York, working with carbonaceous materials as CO 2 capture agents. Since July 2015 she has been a member of the DAF Group (Newcastle University with David Fulton) as a postdoctoral researcher and is currently focused on developing new hydrogel materials based on polymeric proteins for applications in industry and medicine. 2273 Scheme 1.
