New physics inb¯s¯transitions and theBd,s0

Abstract: We suppose that there is new physics (NP) inb →s transitions, and examine its effect on the angular distribution of B, where V 1,2 are vector mesons. We find that, in the presence of such NP, the formulae relating the parameters of the untagged, time-integrated angular distribution to certain observables (polarization fractions, CP-violating triple-product asymmetries, CP-conserving interference term) must be modified from their standard-model forms. This modification is due in part to a nonzero B 0 q -B 0 q w… Show more

“…Thus deviations of the measured phase in B 0 s → φφ from −2β s might tell us something about unexpected non-perturbative enhancements of the up quark penguins compared to the charm quark penguins. More advanced theory investigations can be found in (Bartsch et al, 2008;Beneke et al, 2007;Cheng and Chua, 2009;Datta et al, 2012). First measurements (see (Aaij et al, 2014e)) have still a sizable uncertainty, but they show no significant deviation of the mixing phase in B 0 s → φφ from −2β s .…”

“…It is again a pure penguin decay, which offers a sensitive probe to new sources of CP violation; for a detailed recent theoretical analysis see Ref. [136]. It will be exciting to measure its time-dependent CP-violating rate asymmetry at the LHCb experiment.…”

“…Such asymmetries provide a method of measuring CP violation in a decay time integrated method that complements the decay time-dependent measurement [9]. These asymmetries are calculated from functions of the angular observables and are expected to be close to zero in the SM [10]. Particle-antiparticle oscillations reduce nonzero triple-product asymmetries due to CP-conserving strong phases, known as "fake" triple-product asymmetries by a factor Γ=ðΔmÞ, where Γ and Δm are the decay rates and oscillation frequencies of the neutral meson system in question.…”
