New quality and quantity indices in science (NewQIS): results of the first decade—project progress review

Abstract: Strategies employing information science and scientometric approaches were introduced to science policy and management over the past decades. As a rapidly evolving field, new bibliometric parameters are proposed and discussed continuously and the fields also benefits from the introduction of novel visualization techniques. The present article summarizes the experiences with a platform that combines geographical mapping with scientometrics. It was established between 2005 and 2008 at the Charité in Berlin and t… Show more

“…The present study belongs to the established bibliometric platform New Quality and Quantity Indices in Science (NewQIS) [ 11 ], which examines a broad range of biomedical questions with regard to their translational utility [ 11 - 13 ]. The underlying methodology is constantly evolving and adapted to changing circumstances in terms of global scientific, political and socio-economic characteristics [ 14 ]. Standardized bibliometric parameters are combined with newly integrated indices and figures on the research topic in order to analyze and discuss the research landscape appropriately.…”

“…3, this paper splits the grid project review into three phases in time: contract formulation, contract issuance and contract execution. The smart contract-based grid project review has three defining features: (1) The review experts are anonymous to project applicants; (2) The project leader is anonymous to review experts; (3) The relevant terms in the contract are executed automatically.…”

“…The review of grid projects in an important node in the closed-loop management of power companies. The grid projects can be greatly enhanced in output benefits and research efficiency through scientific review [3,4]. Therefore, the development of grid companies hinges on the design of an efficient system for grid project review.…”

“…In contrast to other areas of radiology (11)(12)(13)(14)(15) and the field of breast cancer research (16,17), where 180,126 articles were published between 1945 and 2008, no concise studies have been reported on global activities of mammography research. To address this shortcoming, we used the New Quality and Quantity Indices in Science (NewQIS) computing platform (16)(17)(18)(19) whose research aims are manifold and reviewed in great detail elsewhere (20). In short, this tool provides objective, transparent and reliable analyses of bibliometric parameters to assess the evolution of scientific productivity over distinct periods of time.…”
