“…Historically, these two species have mainly been reported by researchers in Russia and the Ukraine, perhaps because of a greater familiarity with their taxonomic descriptions in those countries. Nearly all microscopic records are from terrestrial, mainly freshwater systems (Compère, 1966;Khondker et al, 2007;Tsarenko, 2008;Demchenko, 2011;Hindáková and Hindák, 2012;Gorokhov, 2013;Tarasova et al, 2013), but also one hypersaline lake (Gheorghievici et al, 2015). However, two marine strains have been brought into culture, both from the Arctic: one from the ice algae community in Baffin Bay (Bigelow National Center for Marine Algae and Microbiota, CCMP1189), and one from the deep chlorophyll maximum of the Beaufort Sea (Balzano et al, 2012).…”

“…Samples of phytoplankton were collected in a concentrated form from eight and six permanent stations of Bakerganj and Mathbaria, respectively in between 2004and 2006(Khondker et al 2006. All the investigated water bodies were ponds except one river channel (Station No.…”

“…The second one is a polluted ditch of village Nagda, Narayanganj. Two other sampling stations are located in two domestic ponds of Pirojpur and Barisal districts (Khondker et al 2006). Samples were obtained by sieving 100 L of sub-surface water through a plankton net having a mesh aperture of 20 µm.…”
