“…We herein assume T. melanoleuca as distributed along rio Tapajós, in accordance to rio Jamanxim image reports (Vari & Calegari, 2014) and upon examination of additional material. Regarding the recently described T. carolae, C. orca is distinguished by its diagnostic black ground color sharply delimited from a white underside by conspicuous wavy border (vs. demarcation between dark pigmentation faint delimited from white sides nearly to the ventral midline -Vari & Ferraris, 2013, fig.…”

“…Identification as a possibly undescribed species similar to Tatia musaica , follows Royero (1992), Sarmento-Soares and Martins-Pinheiro (2008), Vari and Ferraris (2013), and Vari and Calegari (2014) based on the following characters: strongly contrasting dorsal (black) and ventral (white) colour pattern, with irregular lateral pigmentation extending nearly to ventrum; pigmentation extending onto caudal fin lobes as medial stripes; pigmented dorsal-fin spine; bifid third nuchal plate; and long post-cleithral process surpassing the nuchal plates.…”
