Aiming at the shortcomings of the analytical algorithm and numerical algorithm for calculating the eddy current losses in the solid rotor of high speed squirrel cage induction motor, this study proposes a semi-analytical algorithm. Based on the magnetic field of the rotor surface and Maxwell's equations, the analytical formula of this algorithm is derived. According to the law of energy conservation, the losses in rotor and rotor bars are calculated, respectively, so that the eddy current losses in the solid rotor are calculated indirectly. Taking a high speed squirrel cage induction motor as an example, the eddy current losses in the solid rotor are calculated by the semi-analytical method. The calculation result is verified by the two-dimensional transient finite-element method, and the calculation result meets the basic requirements of engineering practice.

Several single-stage topologies have been introduced since kicking off the three-phase Z-source inverter (ZSI), and among these topologies, the quasi-ZSI (qZSI) is the most common one due to its simple structure and continuous input current. Furthermore, different modulation strategies, utilizing multiple reference signals, have been developed as well. However, prior art modulation methods have some demerits, such as the complexity of generating the gate signals, the increased number of switch commutations with continuous commutation at high current level during the entire fundamental cycle, and the multiple commutations at a time. Hence, this paper proposes two modified space vector (MSV) modulation strategies, aimed at the reduction of the qZSI number of switch commutations at high current level for shorter periods during the fundamental cycle, i.e. reducing the switching loss, simplifying the generation of the gate signals by utilizing only three reference signals, and achieving a single switch commutation at a time. These modulation strategies are analyzed and compared to the conventional ones, where a reduced-scale 1 kVA three-phase qZSI is designed and simulated using these different modulation strategies. Finally, the 1 kVA three-phase qZSI is implemented experimentally to validate the performance of the proposed modulation strategies and verify the reported analysis.

Summary In this paper, the harmonic mechanical vibration attenuation problem in controlled nonlinear induction motors is considered. A new active vibration control method for both desired motion reference trajectory tracking and suppression of harmful harmonic load torque vibrations on three‐phase nonlinear squirrel‐cage induction motors is proposed. It is demonstrated that virtual dynamic vibration absorbers can be embedded into control reference signals to neutralize harmonic torque vibrations. Efficient tracking of smooth reference trajectories for angular velocity and magnetic flux can be thus performed without significant oscillations. An effective and fast estimator for unavailable magnetic flux signals on the rotor is introduced. To highlight the vibration attenuation capability of the proposed tracking control scheme based on virtual dynamic absorbers, a comparative analysis with passivity‐based control is presented. Analytical and numerical results prove the robustness and efficiency of the dynamic tracking control method on multi‐input multi‐output large‐capacity nonlinear induction motors subjected to undesirable forced vibrations.
