Newbouldia laevis Leaves Extract as Tenable Eco-Friendly Corrosion Inhibitor for Aluminium Alloy AA7075-T7351 in 1 M HCl Corrosive Environment: Gravimetric, Electrochemical and Thermodynamic Studies

Abstract: The corrosion inhibition evaluation of aluminium alloy AA7075-T7351 in 1.0 M HCl environment, by biologically active and water soluble luteolin 7-glucoside and phenolic polymeric compounds in Newbouldia laevis (NBL) extracts-as organic corrosion inhibitors of aluminium-have been investigated using gravimetric, electrochemical and thermodynamic techniques respectively, at room temperature (25 ± 1 °C), and at elevated temperatures of 40, 50, 60 and 65 °C. Gravimetric results showed that optimal inhibition effici… Show more

“…After performing the corresponding calculations to find the theoretical values of the parameters by applying equation (1), the error percentage is calculated by taking into account the equation (6). The highest efficiency was the CMC-T coating according to the determined parameters, followed by the CMC and CM.…”

“…Any new mitigation alternative should be effective in several of these process stages. Similarly, methods for slowing corrosion initiation reduces corrosion rates, such as designed electrochemical corrosion inhibitors, and could be implemented to allow functional changes throughout the aluminum interface [5,6]. The application of coatings is one of the most common methods on aluminum [7].…”

“…As a result, numerous treatments and investigations are required to mitigate aluminium corrosion to some level [5]. To address this issue, an efficient and practical approach to avoiding metal corrosion has usually been employed, i.e., the use of inhibitors [6,7]. Corrosion inhibitors are chemical compounds that, when introduced to a corrosive medium at low quantities, decrease or prevent metal corrosion [8][9][10].…”
