Next-to-Leading-Order QCD Corrections to Higgs Boson Plus Jet Production with Full Top-Quark Mass Dependence

Abstract: We present the next-to-leading-order QCD corrections to the production of a Higgs boson in association with one jet at the LHC including the full top-quark mass dependence. The mass of the bottom quark is neglected. The two-loop integrals appearing in the virtual contribution are calculated numerically using the method of sector decomposition. We study the Higgs boson transverse momentum distribution, focusing on the high p_{t,H} region, where the top-quark loop is resolved. We find that the next-to-leading-or… Show more

“…In this case, top-mass effects have been addressed by several groups recently [11][12][13][14]. After estimates based on 1/m t expansions of the cross section which indicated a break-down of this approximation for p ⊥ 150 GeV [15,16], it came as a surprise to find the K-factor of the exact calculation to be fairly independent of p ⊥ [12,13]. This provides yet another indication that also for the total cross section, the QCD corrections are well described by their heavy-top limit.…”

“…When the Higgs transverse momentum is comparable to the top mass, the contribution of higher dimension operators in the Higgs EFT will be important. This has been taken into account so far only at NLO QCD accuracy, including the finite top mass effect [35][36][37]. A concrete goal of this paper is to compute the two-loop QCD corrections for Higgs plus 3-parton amplitudes with dimension-7 operators in the Higgs EFT.…”

“…[32]. Additionally, results based on a fully numerical evaluation of the two-loop integrals with full top quark mass dependence have been presented in [33]. We still believe that our study and implementation are useful for large transverse momenta, where the difference to the full calculation should be negligible and the full calculation seems to be numerically challenging for large transverse momenta.…”
