Ni(II) complexes with 1,3,2,4‐dithiadiphosphetane 2,4‐disulfide‐based ligands: Structural insights, theoretical studies, and anticancer activities

Abstract: The first synthesis of 2,4‐bis(3,4‐dimethoxyphenyl)‐1,3‐dithia‐2,4‐diphosphetane 2,4‐disulfide (SAV‐A1 reagent) was achieved. Seven oxo‐alkyl esters (HLn) were synthesized thereof. Ni(II) complexes ([Ni(Ln)2]) of these ligands were prepared in ethanol. The structures were identified by spectral studies. Ni(II) complexes were unambiguously determined by X‐ray crystallography. In addition, the ligands and their Ni(II) complexes were tested on two different human cancer cell lines, including liver and colon. More… Show more

“…These values are the same with those observed for the complexes. Interestingly, the two-bond P-C coupling values for the C2 and C6 atoms are lower than the threebond P-C couplings of C3 and C5 atoms; a case reported in the literature for similar structures [32]. lie in the frequency range 103.7-107.0 ppm and 96.9-102.2 ppm, respectively.…”

“…The NMR data of the compounds are presented in Tables SM 2-3. As to the general trends [32], the P-O-C9-H protons' chemical shifts in the complexes are higher than those relating to their counterparts in the ligands. Methoxy protons in the o-dimethoxyphenyl moiety are very close to each other in the ligand spectra, but they are quite far away compared to those of the complexes.…”
