Nickel tris(pyrazolyl)borate β-diketonate complexes

Abstract: Mixed ligand tris(pyrazolyl)borate and b-diketonate complexes have been prepared by reacting [Tp Ph2 NiBr] with a b-diketone and then adding 1,8The green solids have been characterized by IR, UV-Vis, and 1 H NMR spectroscopy. Crystallographic studies of [Tp Ph2 Ni(dbm)] reveal a five-coordinate, square pyramidal nickel centre with a j 3 -coordinated Tp Ph2 ligand and a bidentate b-diketonate ligand.

“…As shown in Figure 3, 2 is mononuclear. The central Ni II ion is five‐coordinate by two O atoms from the acetylacetonate unit and three N atoms from the capping Tp Ph 2 ligand, which forms a distorted tetragonal pyramidal, similar to Tp Ph 2acac in ref 20. The acetylacetonate unit coordinates to the Ni II ion in a bidentate mode with Ni–O bond lengths of 1.951(2) and 1.958(2) Å.…”
