Nicousamide normalizes renovascular hypertension in two-kidney one-clip hypertensive rats

Abstract: Abstract. Nicousamide, a coumarin-aspirin compound, was proven to have a renal protective effect on diabetic and hypertensive nephropathy. The present study aimed to investigate the anti-hypertensive effect of nicousamide and its action mechanisms. The two-kidney one-clip (2K1C) hypertensive animal model was introduced in this study. Subsequent to treatment with nicousamide for three weeks, systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were measured, and the plasma concentration of angiotens… Show more

“…Hypertension is an important risk factor in the pathogenesis of hypertensive renal injury, which is one of the leading causes of chronic kidney disease worldwide (1)(2)(3)(4). Analysis of epidemiological data from dialysis registries in Japan and the USA (5-7) has shown that the incidence of end-stage renal disease due to hypertensive nephrosclerosis is increasing in a number of countries.…”

“…Также есть наблюдения о существенной роли окислительного стресса в развитии УРГ [6,7]. В ряде исследований наблюдали при УРГ существенное снижение оксида азота и продуктов его распада [8][9][10]. Поддержанию УРГ в хронической стадии способствует ремоделирование сердца и сосудов, вызванное гемодинамической нагрузкой и действием ангиотензина II и эндотелина-1 [3, 5,8].…”
