NiSe2 Nanoparticles Decorated on Carbon Nanosheet Arrays as Anodes for Sodium Storage

Abstract: As one type of promising anode for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs), nickel diselenide (NiSe2) has stimulated considerable attention. However, its wide practical application has been greatly limited by the sluggish kinetics, low electrical conductivity, as well as severe volume changes and aggregation of particles during repeated cycling. In this work, we demonstrate a facile strategy to achieve self-supporting carbon nanosheet arrays densely decorated with NiSe2 nanoparticles on carbon cloth through the one-pot hy… Show more

“…33,51 The highresolution spectrum of Co 2p, as shown in Figure 3B, reveals that two spin−orbit doublet peaks at 793.5/778.8 and 797.1/ 782.0 eV are associated with Co 3+ 2p 1/2 /Co 3+ 2p 3/2 and Co 2+ 2p 1/2 /Co 2+ 2p 3/2 , respectively. 52,53 Additionally, two shakeup satellites at 786.1 and 802.9 eV are also identified. From the high-resolution Fe 2p spectrum as shown in Figure 3C, two pairs of characteristic peaks located at 720.2/707.4 and 723.9/ 710.9 eV are assigned to Fe 2+ 2p 1/2 /Fe 2+ 2p 3/2 and Fe 3+ 2p 1/2 / Fe 3+ 2p 3/2 , respectively.…”

“…70 It is worth noting that the b values of peaks 2 and 3 are greater than that of 1, which reveals the surface capacitive dominated behaviors. 53 Moreover, according to the values of k 1 and k 2 obtained from the plots of i/v −1/2 versus v 1/2 , the contributions of the surface capacitive effect can be quantitatively determined at various scan rates. As shown in Figure 5C, the surface capacitive contribution for H-CoS 2 /FeS 2 @CNFs-2 accounts for about 97.0% of the total capacity at a scan rate of 1.0 mV s −1 , as indicated by the shaded area.…”

“…During the first cathodic process, the two broad reduction peaks at 1.45 and 1.10 V are associated with the formation of intermediate Na x NiSe 2 through the insertion of Na + to the NiSe 2 interlayer lattice, and the further formation of Na 2 Se and metallic Ni through the conversion reaction between Na x NiSe 2 and Na + , and the additional peak at 0.28 V is possibly due to the creation of the solid electrolyte interface layer, which disappears in the following scans. In the corresponding anodic process, the two peaks at 1.77 and 1.92 V are correlated to the multistep desodiation process forming Na x NiSe 2 and NiSe 2 . , The reduction peaks at 1.45 and 1.10 V quickly disappear and move positively to 1.55 and 1.15 V in subsequent scans, while the oxidation peaks at 1.77 and 1.92 V transfer to 1.75 and 1.87 V, respectively, owing to the structural rearrangement and activation at the initial stages. , From the second scan onward, the CV curves remain nearly overlapped, demonstrating the good reversibility and stability of NiSe 2 /NC for efficient Na + storage.…”
