NIST–JANAF Thermochemical Tables for the Iodine Oxides

Abstract: The thermodynamic and spectroscopic properties of the iodine oxide species have been reviewed. Recommended Nl.sT-JANAF Thermochemical Tables are given for six gaseous iodine oxides: 10, 010, 100, 101, lIO, and 1°3 , Sufficient information is not available to generate thermochemical tables for any condensed phase species. Annotated bibliographies (over 400 references) are provided for all neutral iodine oxides which have been reported in the literature. There is a lack of experimental thermodynamic and spectros… Show more

The bond lengths and angles of the cations and anions of both structures are as expected and in good agreement with similar structures.…”

“…This capillary UPLC-ICP-MS method gave a LOD that is ;fourfold higher than the LOD of 122 fg 127 I reported using reverse-phase capillary LC coupled to a single-stage quadrupole ICP-MS via an argon plasma (Pereira Navaza et al, 2009). This LOD cannot be attributed to dilution of the ion current by oxide formation as the formation of 127 I 16 O is thermodynamically unfavorable because it is an endothermic reaction (Chase, 1996). Instead, the different reported LOD is probably due to different instrumental setup and operation.…”

“…In the case of IO, the experimental values of the ground state (X 1 energy range from 42.07 to 59.51 kcal mol À1[46], whereas the best theoretical estimates, considered as lower limit values, are 49.24 kcal mol À1 for the state X 2 P, and 45.65 kcal mol À1 for X P 3/2[13]. In the case of SCl, Woon and Dunning have estimated a D e value of 66.4 kcal mol À1[47] for the X 2 P state, a result indicating that the species SCl is about 20% more strongly bound than SI.…”
