Nitratireductor alexandrii sp. nov., from phycosphere microbiota of toxic marine dinoflagellate Alexandrium tamarense

Abstract: A taxonomic study was carried out on a novel algae-associated bacterial strain Z3-1T, which was isolated from phycosphere microbiota of toxic marine dinoflagellate Alexandrium tamarense 880. Cells of strain Z3-1T were Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped and strictly aerobic and were motile by means of flagella. Strain Z3-1T grew at 25–42 °C, pH 5.0–10.0 and 1.0–5.0 % (w/v) NaCl. Strain Z3-1T reduc… Show more

“…Q-10 was the sole respiratory quinone detected in strains L1-7-SE T and R6, which was in line with those in all other members of the genus Nitratireductor [4,5,37]. Major cellular fatty acids (>10 % of the total fatty acids) of strains L1-7-SE T and R6 were C 19 : 0 cyclo ω8c and summed feature 8 (comprising C 18 : 1 ω7c and/or C 18 : 1 ω6c).…”

“…Growth of strains L1-7-SE T and R6 was assessed at 30 °C for 2 days on MA, Reasoner's 2A (R2A) agar (BD), Luria-Bertani (LB) agar, and tryptic soy agar (BD), which were supplemented additionally with NaCl to final concentrations of approximately 2 % (w/v). Growth of strains L1-7-SE T and R6 at different temperatures (5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45, 50 and 55 °C) was evaluated on MA for 2 days. Growth of strains L1-7-SE T and R6 at different pH values (4.0-12.0 at 1.0 pH unit intervals) was tested in MB at 30 °C for 2 days.…”
