“…Moreover, the isolation of compounds 8, 14 and 15 from Dorstenia and Ficus species indicate that these compounds could be chemotaxonomic markers for the Dorstenia genus and confirms that the genera Dorstenia and Ficus are closely related taxonomically [53]. Regarding the Ochnaceae, the biflavonoid amentoflavone (16) could be as well regarded as the taxonomic marker of the genus Ouratea , ochnaflavone (17) used to identify species of both Ouratea and Ochna , while lophirone A (18) could be associated with almost all genera in the family [54,55]. Meanwhile, the presence of the flavonoid luteolin (19) in Lophira alata could be used to distinguish between the two species L .…”

“…This kind of nitrile glycosides have already been characterized from other Campylospermum species such as campyloside A previously isolated from the stem roots of C . glaucum . However, the structure determination of lanceolin C or campyloside A was uncomplete, since the configuration of the double bond Δ 2(7) and the absolute configuration have not been established.…”

“…The main metabolites isolated from this genus are nitrile glucosides, flavonoids and biflavonoids as well as indole alkaloids . These compounds are often isolated from different species of Ochnaceae and used as chemotaxonomic markers to distinguish each genus within this botanical family.…”

“…Moschamindole (MCD), a rare phenolic amide with 8/6/6/5/5 rings, is a major bioactive constituent derived from a traditional Chinese medicine Phragmites communis Trin (Poaceae) that is widely prescribed to treat fever and atrophic lung disease in Chinese clinics (Nikaido, Sung, Ohmoto, & Sankawa, 1984;Tsitsa-Tzardi, Skaltsa-Diamantidis, Philianos, & Delitheos, 1990). Pharmacological screening shows that MCD possesses various activities, including antimalarial (Mbabi Nyemeck et al, 2017), cytotoxicity, antimicrobial (Abouem a Zintchem et al, 2008), antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-AChE (acetyl cholinesterase) activities (Peng et al, 2017), prompting its synthesis by many chemists. However, the antitumour activity of MCD has not yet been investigated in GBM cells.…”
