Nitrogen fertilization for ministrains of Campomanesia aurea O. Berg and its influence on productivity and rooting of minicuttings at different seasons of the year

Abstract: The objective of this work is to evaluate the effects of nitrogen doses on the ministrain of C. aurea conducted in minigarden system regarding productivity, rooting and root system quality of minicuttings at different seasons. The experiment was conducted at a greenhouse, and the treatments consisted of collection times (autumn, winter, spring and summer) and nitrogen doses (0, 0.3, 1.12, 1.95 and 3.60 g L -1 ). We evaluated the survival of ministrains, productivity of minicuttings, percentage of rooting and r… Show more

“…Appropriate use of nitrogen doses in plant fertilization has also shown satisfactory results in the production and quality of seedlings of other species of the Myrtaceae family, as it was found in works in protected environment with Campomanesia aurea O. Berg (Emer et al, 2019) and Campomanesia xanthocarpa O. Berg (Carnevali et al, 2017). Plant nutrition in the nurseries is managed by using base and complementary fertilizers (Kämpf, 2005).…”

“…Dado que el N es un constituyente de las proteínas y ácidos nucleicos; además, su participación en el crecimiento de las plantas es esencial; cuando este es absorbido por la planta en forma de nitrato (NO 3 -) y amonio (NH 4 + ), se incorpora a los meristemos para el crecimiento y desarrollo de las plantas. En el cambium de las estacas, el N se requiere para la formación de raíces adventicias (Emer et al, 2019).…”

“…Nitrogen is part of the chemical composition of several cell constituents, such as nucleotides and amino acids, which form structures of nucleic acids and proteins, respectively; it is mainly absorbed as ammonium (NH4 + ) and nitrate (NO3 -) (Kerbauy, 2013). After absorption, nitrogen is quickly incorporated into growing tissues, such as expanding leaves, root tips, and meristems, and excessive nitrogen fertilization can negatively affect rooting, making proper balance and nutrient supply essential (Emer et al, 2019).…”
