“…At the same time, the effectiveness of the thioredoxin system is of particular importance in the detoxification of harmful metabolites such as lipid peroxides, as well as in the regulation of gene expression and modulation of cellular signaling pathways [ 106 , 107 ]. An equally important function of this system is the regulation of the expression of many proteins, including apoptosis-regulating kinase (ASK-1) [ 77 , 108 ], and since it has been shown that the Trx-dependent system may contribute to both the intensification of angiogenesis and cell apoptosis, they have important regenerative role compounds that prevent excessive activation of the Trx-dependent system, including polyphenol compounds that inactivate elements of the thioredoxin system [ 109 , 110 ], which are also components of algae.…”

“…Many NO donor drugs, such as nitroglycerin, sodium nitroprusside, nicorandil, Bidil, etc., have been widely used in the clinic to treat angina, heart failure, and other cardiovascular diseases [14]. The accumulated findings show that S-nitrosylation of cathepsins under the influence of NO-donors can prevent invasion of cancer and cause cancer cell death by blocking the activity of cathepsins as well as the major denitrosylase systems using a multi-way approach [126]. In summary, regulating the levels of the proteins of S-nitrosylation by changing the levels of NO may treat some related diseases.…”
