Abstract:We investigate the non-equilibrium large deviations function of the particle densities in two steady-state driven systems exchanging particles at a vanishing rate. We first derive through a systematic multi-scale analysis the coarse-grained master equation satisfied by the distribution of the numbers of particles in each system. Assuming that this distribution takes for large systems a large deviations form, we obtain the equation (similar to a Hamilton-Jacobi equation) satisfied by the large deviations functi… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
