Electrokinetic phenomena like hydraulic permeability, electroosmosis, streaming potential and current of water -acetone mixtures of different compositions, through cephalin and phosphatidyl inositol membranes, supported by a pyrex sintered G 4 glass disc, have been studied. The results obtained have been analysed with the help of non-equilibrium thermodynamics. Onsager's reciprocal relation has found to be valid and the efficiency of the electrokinetic energy conversion for electroosmosis and the streaming potential has been calculated. The concentration dependence of the phenomenological coefficients L l± and L 12 has also been taken into account.
