Non‐Foster Matched Antennas

Abstract

Non‐Foster networks are those whose reactance has a negative slope with frequency, and can thus overcome bandwidth limitations of many passive systems using their unique impedance and phase properties. These active circuits can be used to provide broadband matching bandwidths for antennas, exceeding passive matching limitations. The design, simulation, and measurement of non‐Foster matched antennas has been presented to show broadband matching bandwidths. A further analysis of the true performance merit of non‐Foster matched antennas in receive applications and transmit applications has also been presented.
