Non Genetec Parameters and Repeatability for Milk Traits Goat in Northern Iraq

Abstract: A total of 439, 436 and 437 records of average daily milk yield (ADMY), milk yield after weaning (MYAW) and total milk yield (TMY) respectively were analyzed. Data used in this study obtained from mountain does at private project in Raselain Village/ Akre Region/ Duhok governorate. The data related to two milking seasons (2016-2017) and (2017-2018). “…These results indicated that the repeatability of DMY and fat% are moderately high, it means the selection program of both traits can speed up the genetic improvement of local goat for milk yield. (16) showed that repeatability estimates of Kurdish Mountain Goat were 0.24, 0.26 for ADMY, and fat%, respectively; (11) Estimates repeatability of MY and fat% for Murciano-Granadina Goats were 0.39, 0.36 respectively and (53) estimated of repeatability for total milk yield in Zaraibi Goat was 0.43.…”

“…Goat breeding practices is traditional in Iraq and most Arab countries, and they are still raised with sheep herds in small numbers (1). Due to the ability to produce twins as a source of meat and high-milk production, goat breeding is essential in many Asian and African countries (2).…”
