Non‐medical prescribing by nurse practitioners in accident & emergency and sexual health: a comparative study

Abstract: Nurses having access to medication facilitate safe, appropriate, and independent prescribing practice. Further research is advised in this area.

Our findings regarding emergency NPs prescribing practice is similar to a recent evaluation of UK nurse prescribers where the most commonly prescribed drugs by emergency nurses in this study were as follows: analgesics, antibiotics and non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory (Black ).
