In addition, PDT is used as a treatment method for dental ailments such as periodontitis, cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, esophageal varices, and neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and prion diseases ( Meisel and Kocher, 2005 ; Al Habashneh et al, 2015 ; Yoo et al, 2021 ).
