Non-Surgical Body Contouring: Introduction of a New Non-Invasive Device for Long-Term Localized Fat Reduction and Cellulite Improvement Using Controlled, Suction Coupled, Radiofrequency Heating and High Voltage Ultra-Short Electrical Pulses

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a new and novel radiofrequency (RF) device used for focal fat reduction. Materials and methods: 24 female and 1 male patients were enrolled in the study. The age range of the patients was 28-62 years old and an average BMI was 26. All patients underwent focal shape correction, without anticipating any weight reduction and 14/24 patients also had posterior or anterior grade 2 or 3 thigh cellulite treated. The patients underwent a 6-treatment protocol where they … Show more

“…We identified 31 studies (27 prospective clinical studies and four retrospective chart reviews) with a total of 2937 patients that had been treated with LLLT ( n = 1114), cryolipolysis ( n = 706), HIFU ( n = 843) or RF ( n = 116) or other techniques ( n = 158) for subcutaneous fat reduction or body contouring. All studies are summarized by type of device in Tables . All results reported were statistically significant mean changes from baseline measurements unless otherwise noted.…”

“…In that study, a reduction of approximately 2.0 cm in the treatment area (abdomen, thighs, or flanks) was achieved within 2 weeks after a single treatment and lasted for 12 weeks [18]. However, this reduction was lower than that of other noninvasive body-contouring techniques such as radiofrequency, low-level laser therapy, and HIFU, which reported reductions of [3.5 cm [27][28][29].…”

“…There are novel least-invasive optical methods providing reduction of regional or site-specific accumulations of abdominal fat (so-called belly fat or stomach fat) under development. [1][2][3][4] The concept that photochemical treatment based on photodynamic, phototoxic and photothermal effects induced by diode laser irradiation of fat cells stained by indocyanine green (ICG) may lead to their lipolysis was recently proposed and proved. 5 Unfortunately, ICG is susceptible to chemical degradation, nonspecific binding to blood proteins, and rapid clearance from the body.…”
