Abstract:The genus Mycobacterium comprises a broad spectrum of obligate microorganisms most notably the M. tuberculosis complex bacteria; potentially-pathogenic or opportunistic species gathered under the common name of M. avium-intracellulare complex, and finally saprophytic mycobacteria.
