Noncentrosymmetric superconductivity and peak effect in rhenium based materials

Abstract

I would like to acknowledge my advisor, professor Renato F. Jardim, for giving me the opportunity to take on this PhD. His enthusiasm, continuous support, guidance and experience certainly encouraged me to pursuit the some times daunting task of conducting scientific research. I'm also grateful for the advices he gave me on various aspects of the academic life throughout the past years.I also would like to acknowledge all of the DFMT staff, specially the technical staff whose help was central not only to conduct some routinely low temperatures experiments but also to create or adapt experimental setups in the development of this project.I'm also indebted to the crystallography group of the FAP-IFUSP, specially to Társis Germano and Antônio Carlos Franco, who were always available and welcoming in the countless times that I had to run x-ray diffraction experiments.Many thanks are also due to ours collaborators at DEMAR/EEL-Lorena, specially to professor Antonio Jefferson Machado and his student Lucas Corrêa, whose help in conducting the heat treatments at high temperatures was essential to the progress of this study.I would also like to thank professor Milton Torikachvili from San Diego State University for the A.C. susceptibility and thermal conductivity measurements in several Re 3 M samples.A special thanks to professor James M.
