Abstract: Absence status epilepticus (ASE) is the most common type of status epilepticus in patients with idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE). Like absence seizure, ASE is characterized by generalized spike-and-wave discharges (GSWDs) on the electroencephalogram (EEG).
