Abstract:In this paper, we start the analysis of the nonlinear dynamics of structural elements having an origami-type microstructure and micro-kinematics, also known as origami metamaterials. We use a finite-dimensional Lagrangian system to explore, via numerical simulations, the overall behaviour of an origami beam. This provides some significant hints about the structure of an effective homogenized continuum model for such a beam. We introduce a geometrically exact twodimensional triangular discrete element, whose ki… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
