Nonlinear interaction of charged particles with strong laser pulses in a gaseous media

Abstract: The charged particles nonlinear dynamics in the field of a strong electromagnetic wave pulse of finite duration and certain form of the envelope, in the refractive medium with a constant and variable refraction indexes, is investigated by means of numerical integration of the classical relativistic equations of motion. The particle energy dependence on the pulse intensity manifests the nonlinear threshold phenomenon of a particle reflection and capture by actual laser pulses in dielectric-gaseous media that ta… Show more

“…The latter has been made in Ref. [26] for the induced Cherenkov process in the gaseous media, where the mentioned nonlinear-threshold phenomena have been justified for laser pulses of short enough durations and nonplane transversal-space envelopes. However, it is more important to investigate the induced Compton and undulator processes with actual time-space profiles of current laser pulses of relativistic intensities, since in these vacuum processes there is not a restriction on the field intensity taking place for induced Cherenkov interaction in dielectric-gaseous media.…”

“…One way to get net energy exchange is to use coherent processes of laser-particle interaction with the additional resonances. Among those the induced Cherenkov, Compton, and undulator processes are especially of interest [9,10]. In these induced processes one can obtain moderate relativistic electron beams of low energy spreads and emittances due to the threshold character of nonlinear resonance in the strong wave field.…”
