Nonlinear magnetic field analysis for 3D electromagnetic contactors

Abstract: A new approach considering the nonlinearity of the electric core is proposed to analyze the magnetic field and magnetic force of 3D electromagnetic contactors. The nonlinear constitutive law is established by measuring the B-H curve of the core experimentally. Finite element method is used to model the electromagnetic responses of the system, in which the 3D Ampère's circuital law is implemented in PDE weak form. In order to analyze the nonlinear responses of the magnetic field and magnetic force, the measured… Show more

“…They used the model to calculate the angle and current characteristics of relay release and analyzed the electromagnetic, dynamic and functional characteristics of the relay during pull-in and release stages. Shu et al 14 used the FEM and partial differential equation combination method to simulate the electromagnetic response of the alternating current (AC) electromagnetic contactor system. They also deployed the numerical interpolation method to calculate the transient and static characteristics of electromagnetic field in order to analyze the nonlinear response of magnetic field and magnetic force.…”

“…The field distribution cannot be analyzed and the effect of the selection phase angle hasn't been considered. In order to calculate the field distribution in the magnetic path, different ways have been developed in [9][10][11]. The nonlinearity is considered in [9] by developing the constitutive law of the magnetic core in the weak form.…”
