“…Table 3 lists the c value of some Mo(W)/Cu(Ag)/S clusters and known NLO materials for comparison. The c values of 1 and 2 are comparable to those of the metal sulfide clusters derived from [MS 4 ] 2À or [MOS 3 ] 2À (M = Mo, W) and somewhat larger than those of C 60 and C 70 [34], organometallic compounds, and their films like TiOPc [30][31][32][33][35][36][37]. Considering the fact that the impressive c values for 1 and 2 and other Mo(W)/Cu(Ag)/S clusters are obtained Table 2 Selected bond lengths (Å ) and angles (°) for [MoS 4 Cu 4 (a-MePy) 3 from a very diluted solution, much better NLO performance can be anticipated if the solubility of the cluster can be improved significantly or a thin film of the cluster can be engineered.…”

“…Diastereoselectivity was excellent at 98% and a simple stereocontrolled thallium(Ir1)-mediated ring-contraction afforded (54) in a highly efficient fashion. This compound has been used as a key intermediate in an enantioselective synthesis of ( +)-ferruginine (55). Two steps were required to remove the ester and its chiral auxiliary, and functional group exchange at nitrogen was also needed.…”

“…This approach has the added advantage that substitution of the polythiophene by a metal complex may modify the optoelectronic properties of polythiophene. We and others have demonstrated that polythiophene groups may be incorporated into transition metal complexes via functionalization of the polythiophenes with phosphines followed by coordination of the phosphine groups to the transition metals. , We have recently used this approach to prepare both oligomeric complexes with phosphine-substituted bithiophenes and monomeric complexes with similar ligands that were models for the corners and edges in the oligomers . The complexes exhibited high solubilities, but the bithiophene groups contained too few thiophenes to exhibit interesting optoelectronic properties.…”
