“…Antibiotic therapy probably causes regression of lymphoid hyperplasia because of suppression of bacterial infection and prevents ischemia and bacterial invasion in the early stage of appendicitis. 10 If intravenous antibiotics are administered for less than 5 days, oral antibiotics should be administered for a total period of 7 days. 11 In adults, the common antibiotics used are amoxicillin + clavulanic acid, cephalosporins or fluoroquinolones.…”

“…They reported an overall complication rate of 8.6% for surgical patients and 10% for patients treated with antibiotics; however, all complications in the antibiotic group developed after a subsequent appendectomy. The authors found a statistically significant decrease in appendix size (radiologic imaging) in the antibiotic treatment group.…”

“…Son on yılda, çocuklarda komplike olmayan akut apandisit olgularının antibiyotikle tedavi edilebileceğini ve antibiyotik tedavisinin bir seçenek olarak sunulabileceğini belirten 10'a yakın çalışma yayın-lanmıştır (9,10) . Antibiyotik tedavisinin, %25'i bulan negatif apendektomileri engellediği, apendiksi koruduğu, cerrahi ve anesteziyle ilgili komplikasyonları engellediği belirtilmektedir.…”
