Abstract: Amblyomma americanum (Linnaeus) (Acari: Ixodidae) (lone star tick) is an aggressive, generalist parasite that vectors numerous important human and animal pathogens. In recent decades its geographic range has been expanding northwards from endemic regions in the southeastern and southcentral US.
