Nosocomial Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea in Assiut University Children’s Hospital, Egypt

Abstract: CDAD is an important cause of nosocomial diarrhoea in children in Assiut University Children's Hospital. Established guidelines should be followed in all hospitals to minimise exposure to the pathogen. Physicians can do much to reduce the risk of a severe outcome in children by early identification and rapid management. Further research should be undertaken to identify the risk factors for recurrence.

“…Treatment with Pulsatilla Decoction could reduce the relative abundance of Clostridiales . Clostridium difficile (Abu Faddan et al, 2016 ), a species belonging to order Clostridiales, produced multiple toxins which might produce infection and inflammation. These results suggested that Pulsatilla Decoction could modulate the distribution of the intestinal flora in order level to alleviate infection.…”

“…These results shows that measures must be taken against the dissemination of virulent and toxigenic strains in order to avoid diarrheal epidemics linked to these strains. In addition, the frequent isolation of ribotypes constituted a significant overlap, making poultry meat a potential source of C. difficile infection in humans [ 32 35 ]. From these data, it could be inferred that consumption of broilers and contaminated chicken meat could be a source of human disease.…”
