Notes on grasses (Poaceae)

Abstract: The structure of the subtribes Phalaridinae Fr., Anthoxanthinae A. Gray et Brizinae Tzvelev as well as some groups of species in the genera Phleum L. and Alopecurus L. of the family Poaceae Bernhart is considered. A new combination Ataxia potaninii (Tzvelev) Tzvelev comb. nova, a new species Schedonorus adzharicus Tzvelev sp. nova, and two new varieties within Alopecurus borealis Trin. (from the Urals) are published. For Alopecurus turczaninovii O. D. Nikif., the priority name A. vlassovii Trin. is accepted. C… Show more

“…(Gaertner, 1770: 539) s.l., are difficult to segregate due to lack of distinct generic characteristics and the prevalence of intergeneric hybrids. Elymus, the largest genus in the tribe Triticeae, consists of about 226 taxa worldwide and most of which are caespitose, linear-spiked perennial species, which were previously treated under Agropyron sensu lato (Tzvelev, 1973). Melderis (1978a) studied both the genera and expanded the genus Elymus by including the genera, that is, Roegneria K. Koch, Elytrigia Desv.…”

“…is one of the most widespread species of the genus Elymus L. in Northern Eurasia. Its habitat covers all of Europe from Iceland and the Mediterranean to the Urals Mountains, almost all, Palearctic parts of Siberia and some areas of Central Asia (Tzvelev, 1976; Hultén & Fries, 1986). In northern Europe, it is common everywhere in Sweden and Denmark, getting slightly less common in Norway and Finland.…”

“…Thus, lampoon flowers with yellow flowers were of the perianth narrow wedge-shaped leaflets to the base used to designate P. uralensis. The P. patens are characterized by a blue-violet (different saturation) color of the perianth, wider lobes of leaf plates (Tzvelev 2001(Tzvelev , 2012Egorova et al 2017). In common habitats, these species form transitional populations with intermediate trait values (Figure 1) (Sushencov 2007).…”
