“…We speculated that ICG@Lip was first accumulated in the liver and finally traveled to the bladder, due to its short metabolic time in livers. [ 22b ] Consistent with our hypothesis, we did find the mouse in ICG@Lip group peed a green urine (Figure S9, Supporting Information). These observations could be attributed to the nonspecific biodistribution of ICG@Lip.…”

“…Although the FDA‐approved dye ICG has attracted tremendous attention for PA imaging and photothermal treatment, [ 21 ] the poor solubility and nonspecific biodistribution hinders its in vivo applications. [ 22 ] ICG@Lip, can significantly improve the solubility and circulation lifetime of ICG (with a half‐life of 3–5 min), [ 22c ] thus ensuring its clinical use as an excellent contrast agent. [ 21b ] To further modify ICG@Lip with PD‐L1‐targeting aptamers, a TM was used to mix ICG@Lip with the aptamer solution (Figure 3e).…”

“…These properties as well as its preferential uptake in tumor and inflamed tissue, its ready availability, its biodegradability, and its lack of toxicity and immunogenicity make it an ideal candidate for photosensitizer delivery. 27–30…”

“…These properties as well as its preferential uptake in tumor and inamed tissue, its ready availability, its biodegradability, and its lack of toxicity and immunogenicity make it an ideal candidate for photosensitizer delivery. [27][28][29][30] The ability of albumin-based delivery to improve tumor targeting and accumulation is what makes it effective. 31,32 Increased absorption is the cause of the increased tumor accumulation, which is passively mediated via enhanced permeation and retention (EPR).…”
