Novel chaetospirolactone and orsellide F from an endophytic fungus Chaetomium sp.

Abstract: Chaetospirolactone (1), a novel spiro-lactone bearing a rare 1-oxaspiro [4.4] non-7-ene-2,6-dione skeleton, and orsellide F (2), together with six known compounds (3-8), were isolated from an endophytic fungus Chaetomium sp. NF00754. Their structures were determined by interpretation of spectroscopic data. The absolute configurations of 1 and 2 were established by analysis of single X-ray crystallographic data and CD spectra. Compounds 3, 4, and 6 showed moderate acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity with I… Show more

“…featuring spiro-lactone with a 1-oxaspiro[4.4]non-7-ene-2,6-dione skeleton. Compound 181 was tested in an acetylcholinesterase inhibitory assay but did not show activity [ 102 ]. A pair of enantiomeric polyketide lactone dimers, (+)– and (–)–ascomlactone A ( 182 ), were isolated from mangrove-derived Ascomycota sp.…”

“…Moreover, a series of polyketides were obtained by knocking out the HDAC gene of C. olivaceum SD-80A. A2 exhibited moderate acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity with a half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC 50 ) value of 7.34 μΜ (Xu et al 2018 ). A1 is an essential intermediate in pharmaceutical production.…”

“…Azaphilones, armochaetoglobins and xanthenone from endophytic fungus Chaetomium sp. showed AChE inhibitory activity with IC 50 values of 7.34, 5.19 and 4.23 μmol l −1 , respectively (Xu et al, 2018). One of the botryane sesquiterpenes produced by the endophytic fungus Nemania bipapillata isolated from red alga Asparagopsis taxiformis — Falkenbergia stage showed both AChE and butyrylcholinesterase inhibitory activities (Medina et al, 2019).…”
