Abstract:Background: NEFL encodes for the neurofilament light chain protein. Pathogenic variants in NEFL cause demyelinating, axonal and intermediate forms of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) which present with a varying degree of severity and somatic mutations have not been described yet.
