Novel management of glioma by molecular therapies, a review article

Abstract: The most frequent type of brain tumors is Glioma which commonly appears initially in the neuroglia in the central nervous system. They grow steadily and generally do not outspread to neighboring tissue of the brain. By applying dominant remedial regimens, the patients would have negligible survival rates. Despite the achieved advances in conventional glioma therapy, it proved that a proper medication for glioma is not easily reachable. The glioma penetration nature and accumulate resistance considerably limit … Show more

“…Neuroepithelial neoplasms are always primary tumors and can be further classified into more subcategories as astrocytic tumors (pilocytic astrocytoma, diffuse infiltrating astrocytoma and anaplastic astrocytoma), oligodendroglial and mixed glioma tumors (Grade II or Grade III glioma) and ependymal type gliomas 14 . The most malignant form of all these gliomas is called glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) 15 . It can arise de novo or as malignant proliferation from some other type of lower grade glioma.…”

“…Also, high recurrence rates of GBM, the incidence of new genetic mutations, and invasive phenotypes in the recurrence activity have exacerbated the issue of treating recurrent GBM [31]. Therefore, it would be highly effective to both use novel molecular and clinical ways to treatment GBM and discover more effective molecular targets for treatment [46].…”

“…For decades, the most common therapeutic approaches used for the treatment of glioma have included surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy [11,12] . Despite the technological advancements, the rate of glioma incidences has not declined, and finding a cure remains a challenge.…”
