Novel Mobile Application System for Implementation of an Eco-Incentive Scheme

Abstract: In order to incentivise consumers to engage in sustainable consumption, a mobile application system is developed to implement an eco-incentive scheme, in which eco-credits are awarded to consumers who recycle and reuse end-of-life products and in which they can use the eco-credits for discounts in shopping, exchange the eco-credits for museum/theatre tickets, or make donations for tree planting. “…Additionally, a green incentives program was established using a mobile APP system designed to encourage users to make sustainable purchases. The infrastructure of a mobile system has 3 components: database server, communication, and integration; with the four functional models to login and sign up, get eco-credits, use/donate eco-credits, and visualize the history of eco-credits [15]. Using various methodologies for the development of mobile APPs like MySQL servers, programming language PHP, and IP based on the web services RESTful.…”

“…The potential of mobile technology is also increasingly being explored by researchers. explore in their study how to integrate the use of smartphones into the teaching and learning of sustainability education in optional learning spaces such as museums Huang et al (2022). developed an eco-incentive mobile app system to encourage consumers to consume sustainably, in which consumers who recycle and reuse end-of-life products are awarded eco-credits and in which eco-credits can be used for shopping discounts, redeem eco-credits for museum/theatre tickets, or donate them for tree planting.According to the research of Navas Iannini & Pedretti (2022) exhibitions related to sustainability can contribute to changing visitors' behaviour at an individual action level -they can learn how to recycle better, how to choose products more wisely, how to make better choices about the food they consume, the amount of energy they use and the waste they generate.…”
