Novel peroxide‐vulcanized NBR‐PAni.DBSA blends, part 2: Effects of conductive filler particles alignment

Abstract: Dicumyl peroxide (DCP) vulcanized poly(-butadiene-co-acrylonitrile)-polyaniline dodecylbenzenesulfonate [NBR-PAni.DBSA] blends were successfully prepared by using the practical thermomechanical mixing method. The effect of alignment of PAni.DBSA particles on the mechanical and electrical properties of vulcanized blends was studied (by passing the blends through a two roll-mills). All vulcanized blends strained parallel to the flow direction when passed through the two roll-mills had their electrical conductivi… Show more

“…The conductive elastomeric blends of NBR/PANI have the potential to be used as stretchable and flexible strain sensors. Yong [24] demonstrated the use of peroxide-vulcanized NBR/ PANI blends prepared by thermomechanical mixing method as potential strain sensors. The strips of NBR/PANI blends, which were used as strain sensors, were prepared by passing the blend through a two-roll mill.…”

“…Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) has been widely used to produce rubber goods due to its unique properties, such as good mechanical strength, heat and aging resistance, and oil resistance. 1 Fillers serve as a key component of rubber composites, which not only cut the cost of rubber products, but also significantly affect the properties of rubber composites. 2 According to the structure, fillers can be divided into zero-dimension spherical fillers, such as carbon black, 3 silica, 4 and carbon black-silica dual phase filler 5 ; one-dimension fillers, such as carbon nanotubes, 6 halloysite nanotubes, 7 and cellulose whiskers 8 ; and two-dimension fillers, such as graphene, 9 graphene oxide, 10 and organomodified montmorillonite.…”
