“…Advanced methods of synthesis such as electrochemical deposition [19], spark plasma sintering, combustion synthesis [20,21], sol-gel process and mechanical milling [22] have been used to synthesize TiB 2 and its composites. The magnetic [23] microstructural, thermal, electrical, electronic properties as well as bonding properties of TiB 2 [24] were also studied.…”

“…With the addition of SiO 2 into an exothermic mixture of TiO 2 -B 2 O 3 -Al, Zaki [22] produced TiB 2 /mullite composites by SHS under a preheating temperature of 550 1C. With the same combustion technique, Zaki et al [23] prepared TiB 2 /ZrO 2 /mullite composites from the ZrSiO 4 -added TiO 2 -B 2 O 3 -Al powder mixture. Recently, Yeh and Kao [24] fabricated TaB/TaB 2 /mullite composites by combustion synthesis from the Ta 2 O 5 -B 2 O 3 -AlSiO 2 powder mixtures and showed the dependence of boride phases formed on the Al content and extra boron addition.…”
