This Chapter reviews the literature reported during 2010 on the group 12 elements Zn, Cd and Hg, focusing on the synthesis and reactivity of molecular species.
HighlightsAdvances in metal-metal bonded compounds including Rh-Zn, M-Ga (M = Zn, Cd, Hg) and Hg-Sb, the isolation of a molecular peroxide from the insertion of oxygen into a Zn-Me bond and the replacement of the three protons in acetonitrile with Hg(II) represent significant contributions to the chemistry of the group 12 elements published in 2010.
